What is Bear Up Brotherhood?

Bear Up Brotherhood is a Phoenix-based rucking crew for gay men (cis and trans) who want to build resilience, forge real connections, and get stronger together. Rucking means walking with weight on your back—simple, accessible, and effective.

Mission Statement

Bear Up Brotherhood is a ruck club for gay men building capacity—body, mind, and life—through steady miles and mutual support. Come as you are. Bear up together.

Who Can Join?

Gay men, both cis and trans. If you identify as a man and this space resonates, you belong. All fitness levels welcome. Any weight counts, including none.

The Bear Up Bond (Shared Code)

Seven commitments that define how members show up for each other:

  1. Come as you are. Any pace, any weight (including none).
  2. Bear up together. We support each other without control.
  3. Consent-first support. Ask: listening, advice, or help?
  4. No nonsense. No hazing, no posturing, no body shaming.
  5. Different stories, same respect. No identity policing; don't universalize your experience of manhood.
  6. Respect and discretion. What's shared here stays here (unless someone is at risk of harm).
  7. Steady over extreme. We build capacity sustainably—health, mindset, life.
